Today, October 20th, I attended Campus Cloud Café at the Howest Kortrijk campus. This event, organized by Noest, was an informative session where various companies discussed IT technologies, Azure, and cloud computing. The event began at 17:00, and my classmates and I gathered on campus before taking our seats to listen to the speakers.

Azure Durable Functions 101

Klaas Lauwers was the first speaker, presenting on “Azure Durable Functions 101.” He introduced us to the world of stateful serverless workflows, explaining how Azure Durable Functions could be used efficiently for even the most complex serverless applications. His presentation included both theoretical aspects and practical demonstrations, showing us how these functions work in action.

IoT Platforms on Azure

The next speaker, Toon Vanhoutte, an Azure MVP, discussed IoT platforms on Azure. He was a passionate speaker who demonstrated how Azure could be applied in industrial settings. He supported his talk with a live demo, showcasing Azure's capability to handle a dataset of over 60 million records quickly and efficiently.

Networking Break

After these insightful sessions, we had a small break where we enjoyed sandwiches and drinks. This break provided an excellent opportunity to meet new people and network with fellow attendees.

Azure and OpenAI Implementations

The final speaker of the day, Mathias Cheyns, focused on Azure and OpenAI implementations. He demonstrated practical use cases for AI and Azure, showing how they used AI to read CVs and automatically fill out data for job seekers. This presentation highlighted AI's potential and how it could significantly benefit many companies in the future.

Campus Cloud Café was a valuable event that provided deep insights into Azure and its various applications in the IT industry. The speakers were knowledgeable and engaging, and the practical demonstrations were particularly enlightening.
